Types of Cloth Diaper Absorbency: Which One is Best for Your Baby?

Updated: Feb 13

Not all cloth diaper inserts are created equal! The type of absorbency you choose can make a big difference in preventing leaks and keeping your baby dry.

Microfiber inserts absorb liquid quickly but tend to compress under pressure, making them great for daytime but not ideal for overnight. Cotton is a natural and budget-friendly option that absorbs well, while bamboo offers better absorbency and softness, making it a great middle-ground choice. For heavy wetters and nighttime use, hemp is the most absorbent, though it absorbs slowly, so pairing it with a faster-absorbing layer (like bamboo or microfiber) is ideal. Understanding these differences can help you customize your diapering routine for maximum effectiveness.
